Cancel Sponsored Content on the CBC - Stop Tandem Now!

FRIENDS recently obtained documents exposing CBC management's internal communications about Tandem, their disasterous plan to sprinkle advertorials all around CBC's websites and apps.

These documents reveal how CBC's public service mission is threatened by chronic underfunding and poor decision-making by political appointees who run the CBC.

Here are the lowlights of these secret CBC documents:

  • CBC management launched Tandem without the knowledge of the CBC Board of Directors.
  • CBC management revealed that they have been selling sponsored content "for decades", yet CBC lawyers later filed a statement with the CRTC claiming sponsored content only started in 2017.
  • CBC managers decided NOT to clarify labelling for sponsored content on social media
Enough.

In the documents we obtained, CBC Management's PR flunkie claimed he only heard from 50 Canadians opposed to TANDEM weeks after FRIENDS delievered the signatures of 16,000 Canadians to CBC's Management and CBC's Board of Directors.

Maybe he wants us to speak a bit louder.
